What Market does, and when it works.
Market Structure in the Smart Money Concepts framework reads trend through two events: a Break of Structure (BOS) and a Change of Character (CHoCH). A BOS is the continuation signal — price clears the prior swing high in an uptrend, confirming the trend is intact. A CHoCH is the reversal warning — price fails to make a new high and instead breaks the most recent swing low, signaling the structure may be shifting.
The practical read: in an uptrend, each BOS is a green light to stay long or add on pullbacks. When the first CHoCH prints, it's time to tighten stops, not necessarily exit — confirmation (a second CHoCH or an order-block break) is stronger evidence. This layered read cuts the impulsive counter-trades that cost most beginners money.
On TradingView, the Luxalgo SMC indicator or the free 'Market Structure' script by LuxAlgo or similar community scripts automatically label BOS/CHoCH swings. The concept is built-in to any chart — you can mark it manually once you know what a swing high/low looks like. Works on all timeframes, but signals carry more weight from 1h upward.
