Which should you choose?
Supertrend's ATR band automatically widens in volatile ranges, which absorbs a lot of the chop that makes Parabolic SAR whipsaw relentlessly on crypto. For most BTC/ETH/alt trend-following, Supertrend is the better default.
Parabolic SAR still has a place as a tightening trailing stop in clean, established trends — its accelerating dots lock in gains nicely once a move is really running.
- You trade volatile crypto
- You want a trailing stop too
- You get whipped by SAR
- You trade smooth trends
- You want an accelerating stop
- You already filter for trend
