The best TradingView indicators for ranging (sideways) crypto markets
Ranging markets punish trend-following tools and reward oscillators. When ADX is below 20 and price is chopping between identifiable highs and lows, you need indicators that tell you where the range boundaries are and when momentum is exhausted at those extremes — not tools that keep flipping you in and out of a nonexistent trend.

RSI (Relative Strength Index)
momentumBuilt-inIn a defined range, RSI's overbought and oversold levels actually work as intended — price reaching 70 near range resistance or 30 near range support gives high-quality fade setups.
Best for: Swing entries on BTC/ETH 1h+·TFs:1h4hRead review4.3/5 - 02RANK

Bollinger Bands
volatilityBuilt-inBollinger Band tags at the upper and lower rails define the statistical edges of the range. A close back inside after a band tag is a clean mean-reversion trigger.
Best for: Range traders reading volatility·TFs:15m1h4hRead review4.2/5 - 03RANK

Stochastic
momentumBuilt-inStochastic's two-line crossover near the extreme zones (above 80 or below 20) is the fastest oscillator reversal signal at range boundaries — faster than RSI and built for this environment.
Best for: Range scalpers on 5m–15m·TFs:5m15m1hRead review4.0/5 - 04RANK

VWAP
volumeBuilt-inIn a range, VWAP anchors near the midpoint and acts as a daily magnet. Trades away from VWAP tend to revert toward it — the centerline becomes the target, not a stop.
Best for: Intraday traders needing a fair-value anchor·TFs:1m5m15mRead review4.6/5 - 05RANK

Keltner Channels
volatilityBuilt-inWhen Bollinger Bands contract inside Keltner Channels, a squeeze is loading. In a range, this signals the end of the sideways phase — the Squeeze Momentum histogram tells you which way the breakout is building before it happens.
Best for: Breakout traders using the Squeeze Momentum setup·TFs:1h4h1DRead review4.1/5 - 06RANK

Pivot Points
structureBuilt-inPivot Points provide the mechanical S/R levels that define most intraday ranges. The main Pivot, S1 and R1 are where ranging crypto pairs reverse most frequently during the session.
Best for: Day traders who want session-based S/R levels without manual drawing·TFs:5m15m1hRead review4.0/5 - 07RANK

ADX (Average Directional Index)
trendBuilt-inUse ADX as the regime gate, not a signal: ADX below 20 confirms you're in a range and oscillator signals are valid. Once ADX rises above 25, the range is ending — switch tools.
Best for: Trend traders who want a chop filter·TFs:1h4h1DRead review4.1/5
